ؿ ̵ ҽ ϴ Ű̴. Tiger Beat is an American fan magazine marketed primarily to adolescent girls. It is currently published by Laufer Media, Inc. of Los Angeles, California, which also produces Bop magazine. Founded in 1965 by Charles "Chuck" Laufer and his brother, Ira, Tiger Beat has as its forte teen idol gossip, movies, music and fashion. It is known for its covers with 'cut and paste' collaged photos of the latest teen idols. Its publisher, first named as The Laufer Co., also founded and published the teen magazines FaVE (now defunct) and Right On! (now owned by another publisher). Girls ranging from the age of 9 to 18 are buying the magazine due to the recent featuring of "pre-teen" teen idols.[citation needed] Tiger Beat was sold to Primedia late in 1998 by former publisher Sterling/MacFadden. It was purchased in 2003 by Scott Laufer, the son of Chuck Laufer. Laufer Media also publishes Tiger Beat's sister publication, Bop. Each issue of Tiger Beat features 6 giant posters of the latest stars. These two magazines have a website as well.
